Drupal on the Bayou Brings Build, Design and Business Training Plus WebChick Angela Byron to the Big Easy Dec. 8-9
NeoSpire/Hosting.com and LevelTen Interactive Team up to Produce Two-Day Summit; Technical Sessions and Business Case Studies Show How Drupal Can Grow Business; Register by Nov. 1 and Save 20%
DENVER, October 24, 2011 - Managed hosting provider NeoSpire, a Hosting.com company, and full service design agency LevelTen Interactive today announced the two have partnered as organizing sponsors to co-host Drupal on the Bayou, a Drupal summit, December 8-9 at Harrah’s New Orleans Hotel.
The first Drupal summit to incorporate technical sessions alongside interactive business and marketing workshops, Drupal on the Bayou will bring together developers, site designers, business owners, and corporate representatives to share their experience and learn not only how to develop and implement a Drupal-based web presence using agile methodologies, but also how the powerful, free open source Drupal content management platform can help grow business.
Registration is now open for Drupal on the Bayou, with a 20 percent discount available for Early Bird registrations received by midnight on October 31. A special Summit rate of $139/night at the AAA Four Diamond Harrah’s Hotel includes free high speed Internet access for all Drupal on the Bayou attendees.
“This event is truly about the whole Drupal experience,” said Kevin Thomas, senior director of marketing at Hosting.com. “Where most Summits focus on how to build, theme and code your site, this event takes that a step further with real-world success stories from experts who will illustrate how they have used Drupal to amplify their marketing efforts and even leverage social media integration to drive business growth.”
The event offers three tracks:
- Build, featuring Drupal experts conducting technical sessions on theming and site building aimed at developers;
- Design, covering user-friendly design elements beyond themes and code to enhance usability; and
- Business, including interactive panels and sessions ranging from project management and how to manage client expectations to real-world Drupal application success stories.
As an extra special treat to kick off the event, Drupal 7 core maintainer and Drupal devotee Angie “Webchick” Byron will deliver the keynote address. Byron is a Drupal rock star, widely recognized as an open source evangelist and frequent Drupalcon and Do it with Drupal speaker. Byron co-authored the O’Reilly book “Using Drupal,” and has been influential in virtually every aspect of Drupal development. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Drupal Association and is the recipient of the Google-O’Reilly Open 2008 Source Award for Best Contributor. Byron was recently featured on the cover of Linux Journal for her work on Drupal 7.
In addition to the Summit, LevelTen will conduct three days of pre-event training December 5-7. Designed for beginners, Drupal in a Day will show novice users how to create a Drupal site from start to finish with hands-on instruction and workshop time to build your own site. The two-day Drupal 7 Site Building course is ideal for those who want to dig deeper and expand their Drupal knowledge beyond the basics.
