HOSTING Data Center Weathers California Storm to Keep Customers Always On

Denver, CO, December 18, 2014 – While tens of thousands of individuals and businesses went without power during the storm that plagued northern California last week, the HOSTING San Francisco data center weathered the storm to operate at full power with no interruption. In anticipation of the storm, the data center management team followed a rigorous testing protocol that includes power, generators, cooling systems, building security and called on a full staff to ride out the weather.

“Our priority is making sure our customers’ systems and infrastructure are maintained and operation is uninterrupted,” says, Tim Piastrelli, Vice President of Infrastructure and Security at Nitro, a San Francisco-based software company and HOSTING customer. “While the financial district and residences in San Francisco suffered without power, the precautionary measures that HOSTING took to ensure full power protected the mission-critical applications we host at their data center.”

HOSTING owns and operates six geographically diverse, world-class data centers that comply with Tier 2 architecture and satisfy Tier 3 for critical power and HVAC. Tier 2 areas include single utility supply, multitenant and single threaded generators. Each has N+1 redundancy including UPS and backup generators.

“Uptime is our customers’ oxygen,” says Rada Flom, HOSTING Senior Director of Data Center Operations. “We ensure an always on experience for businesses through our rigorous testing and redundant power sources.
