How do I stop, start and restart an Cloud Enterprise Virtual Machine?

The following article explains how to stop, start and restart your Virtual Machine. The control panel gives you the ability to stop, start and restart your virtual machine. In general, you should use the shutdown and restart operating system actions when managing your virtual machine. The following options are available when managing your Virtual Machine:

VM Actions

  • Start: Starts the virtual machine if it is currently shutdown
  • Stop: Forces a hard stop of the virtual machine, should only be done if the operating system shutdown is unsuccessful
  • Restart: Forces a restart of the virtual machine, should only be done if the operating system restart is unsuccessful

Operating System Actions

  • Shutdown: Performs a graceful shut down of your virtual machine
  • Restart: Performs a graceful restart of your virtual machine

To manage your virtual machine (VM), please follow these steps:

  1. Browse to the Customer Portal located at https://customer.hosting.com
  2. Login as the administrative user.
  3. If you have more than one account, select the appropriate account from the Current Account drop down in the top right corner.
  4. From the menu, click Cloud Manage.
