Perform a Snapshot and Restore a Virtual Machine
The following article explains how to perform a snapshot and restore of your virtual machine. Through the control panel, you can create a snapshot of your virtual machine. The snapshot will capture all of the settings of your virtual machine at the time the snapshot was taken. Snapshots are designed to be temporary backups of your virtual machine, typically taken before changes are made to your. At any time, you can revert to the snapshot, restore the virtual machine to the settings within the snapshot. This is only available for Virtual Machines.
To create a snapshot, please follow these steps:
- Browse to the Customer Portal located at https://customer.hosting.com
- Login as the administrative user.
- If you have more than one account, select the appropriate account from the drop down in the top right corner.
- From the menu, expand Cloud > Manage.
- Click the ID number for the VM you wish to Manage.
- In the Snapshots section, click Create a New Snapshot.
- Enter a Name and Description for the snapshot.
- Click Create.
The snapshot will appear in the Snapshots section after a few minutes once it has been created.
To restore a virtual machine from a snapshot backup, please follow these steps:
- Browse to the Customer Portal located at https://customer.hosting.com
- Login as the administrative user.
- If you have more than one account, select the appropriate account from the drop down in the top right corner.
- From the menu, click Cloud > Manage.
- Click the ID number for the VM you wish to Manage.
- In the Snapshots section, select the snapshot you wish to restore and click Revert to this Snapshot.

- Click OK.
