How do I configure a custom error page?

The following article explains how to configure a custom error page. Custom error pages are used to give the user more detailed information when the requested page has an error. The most commonly used customer error page is a 404 error page. A 404 error occurs when the requested page does not exist. It may be necessary to create the error page, depending on how you would like to handle the error.

To configure a custom error page, please follow these steps:

1. Open a browser window and go to www.HostMySite.com.
2. Click on Control Panel Login.
3. Log into the Control Panel as one of the following:
   • Account Administrator and select the appropriate domain
   • Technical Contact for the domain
4. Click on Apache and select Custom Errors.
5. Choose an option from the list.

To add a custom error page, please follow these steps:

1. Click Add Error Page.
2. Select the error number from the drop down. The most common is 404 which represents a Page Not Found error.
3. Enter the full path to the error page, starting with /vservers/domainname/htdocs/.
4. Click Add Error Page.

To edit a custom error page, please follow these steps:

1. Click Edit Error Page.
2. Select the error page from the drop down.
3. Enter the full path to the error page, starting with /vservers/domainname/htdocs/.
4. Click Edit Error Page.

To delete a custom error page, please follow these steps:

1. Click Delete Error Page.
2. Select the error page from the drop down.
3. Click Delete Error Page.
