Schedule a Recurring Virtual Machine Operation in the Customer Portal

Hosting.com's Customer Portal has always given you the ability to "Schedule Virtual Machine Operations Via The Customer Portal", but now we've added addtional functionality.  All scheduled VM Operations can now be set to regulary reoccur at any interval that is chosen. 

Use Cases

  • Recurring Restarting VMs After The Weekly Patches (OS Updates

  • Recurring Parking VMs For Periods In Which They Are Not In Use

  • Recurring Unparking Of VMs That Have Been Parked

  • Scheduling Any Of The 7 Available VM Operations To Occur On Regular Intervals

Getting Started

1.  Go to the Suppor Article linked here Schedule Virtual Machine Operations Via The Customer Portal

2.  When you get to step 4 on the above linked article step 3 on this article shows what is new

3.  What's new is the checkbox that says "This is a recurring event" shown belowScheduling Activities 2

4.  Once you've selected the initial date of the scheduled operation you will be able to then specify if this operation occurs Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.  You can also select specific days of each week for the operation to occur on.  Then simply click one of the 7 blue buttons on the right side to initiate your recurring operation.

5.  After selecting the operation you will get a message in the upper right hand corner of the screen as shown below.

6.  To view Operations for Virtual Machines select "View Scheduled VM Operations" shown below

7.  After selecting the "View Scheduled VM Operations" link you will be able to see all Virtual Machine Operations that are scheduled to recurr as well as the history of Virtual Machine Operations that have been completed.
