What to do if I get domain name renewal requests from companies other than HostMySite?
Telemarketers have long been deceiving people for their own gains; recently, HostMySite customers have reported a domain registry scam that transfers and renews your domain name for exorbitant fees.
Certain registrar companies are running a domain name registration scam attempting to convince people to transfer their domain name from their current registrar. These companies are charging inflated rates for the domain transfer and renewal.
Rest assured though, your domains are safe! If your domain name is registered through HostMySite, any communication you receive will be directly from HostMySite and SafeSecureWeb.com, and we always identify ourselves when contacting you. HostMySite locks all domains that are registered through us, so there is no way your domain can be transferred without your consent.
However, you should still exercise caution and not give out any information to anyone from a company you don't recognize. If you have been contacted by a company that you believe is attempting to scam you, and would like to report it as an Internet crime, you can do so at http://www.ic3.gov/.
