Configure Domain Forwarding in OpenSRS
This article goes over enabling domain forwarding within OpenSRS. Note: Support must enable this feature for you. To have it enabled which is granted on a case-by-case basis, please contact us. In having this feature enabled, you must still abide by our Terms of Service as to how many sites you can host per account.
- Open a web browser and log into https://manage.opensrs.net. Note that your domain must be registered with TuCows under our account in order to log in and use this feature.
- Once logged in, click the Domain Forwarding.
- Enter in the requested information and click Add.
- Subdomain: domain prefix - www, store, etc. Generally, you will need to create two forwarding rules: one with subdomain blank and one with www
- Destination URL: domain to which this domain should redirect - redirection to specific files or folders is supported
- Title: meta tags - leave blank
- Keyword: meta tags - leave blank
- Description: meta tags - leave blank
- Masked: Say the "domain forwarding" is configured for www.domain.com and the Destination URL is set to http://domain2.com/admin/. By enabling Masked, the page will resolve to the admin login at http://domain2.com/admin/ but the URL will display http://www.domain.com/
- Enabled: On or off
- For the forward to take effect, the A record of the subdomain for which the forward is implemented must point to the IP OpenSRS displays at the time of creation. For dedicated accounts, DNS can be edited in the Customer Portal following this article. For shared, DNS can be edited in the Customer Control Panel following this article.
