Email Settings for Palm WebOS Devices
This article applies to all Palm and HP WebOS devices, including the Palm Pre, Pre+, and Pixi.
- Click on the Email icon on your Quick Launch bar.
- Click on the Email menu in the upper left corner of your screen.
- Click on Preferences & Accounts.
- At the bottom of the menu, click Add An Account.
- Enter your full email address, such as user@domain.com.
- Enter the password for that email address.
- Click Sign In, which will trigger an automatic setup. You will recieve an error message.
- After the automatic setup fails, click Ok, then Manual Setup.
- For Mail Type, chose either POP or IMAP.
- POP downloads copies of the messages to your phone, so what you do on the phone does not affect what is on the server or other devices that connect to your mail. It will not synchronise sent items.
- IMAP synchronises data between the phone and server, and also other devices connected with IMAP. Changes such as deletion and moving mail between folders will affect what is on the server, and you can synchronise sent items. If using IMAP, it is best to also use IMAP on your computer's mail program.
