Unable to Send Mail in Outlook

NOTE: This only applies to our shared mail servers; if you need to configure an alternate port for your mail server please follow our support articles for the appropriate application.

If you are able to receive mail however you are unable to send mail. This is generally caused by the ISP blocking the default SMTP port of 25. Our shared mail servers have been configured with an alternate SMTP port 50 to use in this event. Follow the steps below to configure Outlook to relay mail on port 50.

  1. Open Outlook Tools > Accounts > Mail tab
  2. Highlight the user
  3. Select Properties
  4. Select the advanced tab
  5. Change the Outgoing mail (SMTP): box from 25 to 50.
