Install FileCatalyst HotFolder
Verify the version of Java installed on your workstation:
Command:
java -version
You will need to be running Java 1.4 or higher.
Installation
Windows
- Download the HotFolder installer (install_fc_hotfolder.exe) to your desktop.
- Double-click installer icon to launch install wizard.
- Step through the wizard to choose installation directory and shortcut options.
- Locate and launch the application from the Start menu (FileCatalyst HotFolder).
Mac
- Download HotFolder archive for Mac (FileCatalystHotFolder.zip) and save it to the Desktop.
- Double-click archive icon to automatically unzip to the Desktop.
- Copy to your Applications directory.
- Double-click again to launch application.

Once HotFolder is installed the actual GUI will be the same on either OS.
Configuring the FileCatalyst Server Connection

- Open the HotFolder Control Panel and click on the default site
- Select Edit to define your Server Settings

- Click on Test Settings to validate your information
- Reference the on-line help files for advanced configuration settings
- Press Apply and OK to exit
Creating a Upload HotFolder
- Select HotFolder on the left menu and click on the Edit button
- Select Edit to define your HotFolder Settings - Create a HotFolder named Upload
- Click OK to exit
Creating a Download HotFolder
- Select Add a New HotFolder
- Follow the wizard and create a new HotFolder named Download
- Click OK to exit
Configure the Upload Task

- Select Scheduler on the left menu
- Select Add New Task
- Select the Task Setting Upload
- Select Next and Finish and Close
- Reference the on-line help files for additional task settings
You can add as many HotFolders as you want. Keep in mind these do not do anything until a Task is setup which decides what Filecatalyst server each Hotfolder so download or upload to.
Configure the Download Task
- Select Add New Task
- Select the Task Setting Download
- Select Download Files From Server
- Select Next and Finish and Close
- Reference the on-line help files for additional task settings
Testing out a Transfer
- Drag a file and drop it onto the HotFolder named Upload
- Open the HotFolder Control Panel and Select Activity from the left Menu
- Click on Start Transfer
- Select Upload from the Instant Transfer Wizard and click Finish
- Once you have successfully uploaded the file you may now download it by selecting Download from the Instant Transfer Wizard
Creating and Managing HotFolders

Creating a New HotFolder
To create a new HotFolder location, browse to the HotFolders menu and click the Add New HotFolder button. This will initialize the HotFolder wizard, and take you through the steps in creating a new HotFolder on your system.
Managing Existing HotFolders
To change, update, or delete existing HotFolders, browse to the HotFolders menu and select the HotFolder in which you wish to work. Either right click and select the option desired, or select a HotFolder and click the Delete or Edit buttons at the bottom of the panel. The edit button will open up the HotFolder configuration where you can change paths and names.
