Configure a BlackBerry Device for Hosted Exchange
The following article explains how to configure your BlackBerry device for a Hosted Exchange mailbox. During the configuration process your BlackBerry device will be wiped on all information. We strongly recommend you create a backup of your BlackBerry device if it contains any important information.
To create a backup of your BlackBerry device, please follow these steps:
- Connect your BlackBerry device to a computer running the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
- Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
- From the Main Menu, click Backup and Restore.

- Click Backup to create a backup of your device.

- Choose a location to save the backup file and click Save.
To wipe the BlackBerry device, please follow these steps:
- From the Home screen on the BlackBerry device, select Options and click Security Options.

- Click General Settings.

- Click the track wheel and from the menu select Wipe Handheld.

- Click Continue.
- When prompted, type blackberry and press Enter.
To configure your BlackBerry device for the Exchange mailbox, please follow these steps:
- From the Home screen on the BlackBerry device, select Options and click Advanced Options.

- Click Enterprise Activation.

- Enter the email address for the mailbox and the password that has been generated.

- If this screen contains a field for Activation Server Address, leave it blank.
- Click the track wheel and from the menu select Activate.
Your BlackBerry device should now be configured for your Hosted Exchange mailbox.
If you need to restore your BlackBerry device, please follow these steps:
- Connect your BlackBerry device to a computer running the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
- Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
- From the Main Menu, click Backup and Restore.

- Click Restore.
- Select the backup file you created and click Restore.
