Forward my email from Hosted Exchange

The following article explains how to set up email forwarding for exchange mailboxes. Forwarding rules in exchange will only work when sent to another mailbox on the exchange server. If you wish to forward email automatically to an outside address, you must first create an External Contact to relay the message. Also, bear in mind that forwarded messages are still subject to spam checks leaving our network and arriving at the destination mailbox.

To set up forwarding for you exchange mailbox, please follow these steps:

  1. Open an Internet Explorer window and go to webmail.myexchangeemail.com.
    • It only works in Internet Explorer, and must be set up in webmail. If you try to set it up in Outlook, Entourage, or Mail.app, it will only work when you are running that program.
  2. Click Options in the upper right of the window
  3. Click Rules, then New Rule. There are 4 preset rules, or you can start from scratch by choosing Create a new rule for arriving messages

  4. Under Do the following, choose Forward or redirect… and choose Redirect the message to people or distribution lists

  5. Click on the underlined people or distribution lists to choose the recipient the message will be going to.
    • The recipient must be in your global address list, so if they are outside of the Exchange server, they must be set up as an External Contact
