Find out where my email is stored in Outlook

This guide discusses how to locate your mail folders in Microsoft Outlook.

1. Click File, Data File Management…

   

2. This will load the Account Settings window. It shows you a list of any data files you use.
   • IMAP and POP3 connections will store email in a Personal Folders or Archive file with the extension .pst.
   • Exchange mailboxes will store local data in an Offline Folders file, ending in .ost.
   • The main delivery location is identified by the word Default in the comment column.

   

3. You can click on Settings… to view properties of the mailbox and find the full path to their location:
   • POP3/IMAP - .PST

     

   • Exchange - .OST

     

     • Click on Offline Folder File Settings… button to find the file path
