How do I add an attribute to a product?
The following article explains how to add an attribute to a product. An attribute is a feature or option associated with a product. Examples include sizes, colors or weights. A product can have multiple attributes. A price and cost can be assigned to the attribute and is added to the products total during the checkout phase.
To add an attribute to a product, please follow these steps:
- Log into the MIVA Merchant Admin section located at http://store.domainname.com/merchant2/admin.mvc. If this address does not work, you may need to use http://domainname.com/merchant2/admin.mvc. Older MIVA Merchant stores were configured with this address.
- Expand the Stores menu.
- Expand the Store name.

- Click Products from the menu.

- Click Edit of the selected product.

- Click Attribute from the top menu.

- Click Add Attribute.

- Enter the appropriate information:
- Code: enter a code for the attribute, including letters, numbers, dashes and underscores
- Prompt: enter a prompt for the attribute using plain text or HTML code
- Image: enter the path to an image for the attribute and click upload
- Type: select how the attribute will be selected
- Copy: check if using an existing attribute template
- Price: enter the amount to be added to the total of the product
- Cost: enter the actual amount of the attribute
- Weight: enter the additional weight of the attribute
- R: check if the attribute is required

- Click Update.
Radio Buttons and Drop-down lists require you to enter options for the customer to choose from. MIVA Merchant will prompt you to add options once the attribute is created. You can also return at a later time to add/edit the options.
