What are "Modules" for Miva

A module is file that contains specific code which plugs into Miva Merchant and provides additional features. Any module you consider purchasing and/or installing should be from a Miva Partner, because partners are required to follow specific guidelines.

Types of Modules

There are various types of modules, and since you've already learned how the core of Miva Merchant works, you'll understand these.

Fulfillment Modules

These types of modules assist in order fulfillment and include features like coupon or gift certificate redemption, special email notifications, and order status modules. They are, after being installed to the mall, usually assigned to the store under Order Fulfillment.

Discount Modules

These module types provide ways to offer special discounting, such as percentage savings when a certain subtotal amount is reached.

Shipping Modules

These types of modules provide various shipping configuration options, such as giving the ability to configure shipping based on the country or state in the Ship To address, or providing a real-time gateway with FedEx or the USPS.

Payment Modules

These modules configure additional payment options, such as money order, PayPal and split payment methods.

Store Functionality Modules

These modules provide additional functional enhancements. Some examples are a basket display on all store pages, navigation enhancements and other features that provide visitors with the ability to shop more easily.

Admin Utilities Modules

From custom batch reports or import and export modules, these utility modules help you on the Back-End.

Look and Feel Modules

These modules provide various options, giving you the ability to create a custom look and feel (design) for your store. Some handle the entire overall shell of the store, while some add little, yet noticeable, features.
