Log Rotation in Plesk 10

Without log rotation, it can often take time to search logs for the specific string and can take away from disk space rather rapidly.  Setting up log rotation prevents eating away at the disk space of the server.

  1. Log into the Plesk administrative interface by navigating to https://<ip_address>:8443 as the server administrator.  A self-signed certificate may show an error in the browser in which case it is OK to accept the self-signed SSL.
  2. Navigate to Domains in the left hand navigation menu and click Control Panel next to the domain..
  3. Plesk Domains Domain List
  4. This will open the control panel for that domain.  Under this new tab/window, click Websites & Domains.
  5. Websites and Domains
  6. Once there, click Show Advanced Operations and select Logs.
  7. Plesk Logs
  8. Click the Log Rotation button.  From here, logs can be rotated based on size or based on time.  Click the appropriate option, choose how log to save log files, compress them, and if you want the compressed logs emailed to a user, place the email address in the field.  Click OK.  Log rotation is now activated.  If at anytime you need to switch this off, follow the same steps and click Switch Off.
