Maintenance Mode for Websites in Plesk 10

This article goes over placing a site in Maintenance Mode in Plesk 10.  This feature is only available for Plesk 10.

  1. Log into the Plesk administrative interface by navigating to https://<ip_address>:8443 as the server administrator.  A self-signed certificate may show an error in the browser in which case it is OK to accept the self-signed SSL.
  2. Navigate to Domains in the left hand navigation menu and click Control Panel next to the domain..

  4. This will open the control panel for that domain.  Under this new tab/window, click Websites & Domains.

  6. Expand Show Advanced Operations and then click Website Maintenance Mode.

  8. From there, check the checkbox for putting the site in Maintenance Mode.  The site will then give a 503 Service Unavailable message will be shown to site visitors.  If the site supports custom error documents, the 503 error document can be edited and the resulting message would be showing.

  10. To change the error document, navigate back to the main domain control panel, click the Websites & Domains tab.
  11. Click the File Manager option, find error_docs in the file listing, and upload or change the 503 error document to mention the maintenace.
