Forward my email to another address in SmarterMail

The following article explains how to forward your email to another address in SmarterMail.

In most cases SmarterMail forwarding should not be used as the user can forward all mail including spam from the account locally to the remote server. The remote server can then mark those messages as spam and mark the sender (Hosting.com servers) as a source of spam which can lead to blacklisting and other problems. What is recommended is to have your external mail service (where you were going to forward mail) POP the mail off of the account here. In other words, setup the email address with Hosting.com in the portal for your other webmail provider to pull mail off of Hosting.com's server without having to forward the message. This is more reliable and therefore is the recommended method. In order to set this up as well, you will need to enable POP retrieval for your email address.

If you still wish to forward mail directly from SmarterMail to another address please follow these steps:

  1. Open a browser window and go to one of the following URLs:
    • http://mail#.safesecureweb.com (this address is provided in the setup email – shared accounts only)
  2. Login using your full email address and password.
  3. From Settings menu, select My Settings.
  4. On the Forwarding tab, enter the forwarding address. If you are forwarding to more than one address, use a comma to separate the addresses. For example: user1@yourdomain.com, user2@yourdomain.com, user3@yourdomain.com.
  5. If you want to have the messages deleted after they are forwarded, check Delete message on forward (otherwise a copy of the message will remain on the mail server).
  6. Click Save.
