Creating Contact Categories in SmarterMail

The SmarterMail webmail interface uses "Categories" to group people together. To group people, you must first create the Master Categories. After creating the Master Categories, you will need to assign Contacts to the desired Category. Finally, when you create a new message, you will need to select all the Contacts in the Category.

 

Creating Master Categories:

1) Log into your email address at mail.yourdomain.com

2) Go to Collaborate -> My Contacts -> All Contacts

3) Double Click any Contact to edit

4) Select Master Categories

5) Create all groups that you want within the Master Categories (one per line)

Assigning Contacts to Category:

1) Double Click Contact to edit

2) Choose Categories tab

3) Check each Category that you want that Contact to be in

Email a Category:

1) Create New Email in webmail interface

2) Click the To, CC or BBC depending on how you want to email the group

3)  A new window will appear showing all your contacts, at the bottom there is a drop down box that says My Contact [All Categories]

4) Select the desired Category from the drop down

5) Check box next to Display Name to select all members in the Category

6) Click OK and all the selected contacts will be inserted into the appropriate section
