Setting the hostname in the SmarterMail interface

One of the first steps in properly configuring your SmarterMail server is to specify a valid hostname. The following article explains how to set a valid hostname via the SmarterMail interface.

To set the hostname, please follow these steps:

  1. Open a browser window and go to one of the following URLs:
  2. Login as admin with the password supplied in your setup email.
  3. From the top menu bar, click Settings.
  4. From the left side bar, click General Settings.
  5. Click the Server Info Tab.
  6. From this screen you will adjust the Hostname. A hostname should be a FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) which means a valid domain that resolves to your VPS IP.
  7. Click Save.
