Install SmarterMail 5.x and 6.x

Connect via Remote Desktop (Start > Run > mstsc <enter>)

Download SmarterMail

Run the Setup

Click Next

Select "I accept the terms of the license agreement" and Click Next

Click Next

The installation process will now proceed and once complete will open two browser Windows.

The first Window is the SmarterMail Help Documentation which you should use as your first reference point on any SmarterMail related questions.

The second Window states SmarterMail Initializing.

Once the initialization has completed you will be prompted for a license key. If you do not supply a license key SmarterMail will work as Free Edition which means 1 domain and 10 users.

On the next screen you will enter your Hostname and new admin password. The Hostname should be a fully qualified domain name that resolves to your server IP address such as mail.domain.com.

Set the Primary (76.12.32.110) and Secondary (208.112.89.187) DNS

Click Next

Choose whether or not to enable ClamAV which can be used to scan your spool however it is NOT recommended unless you have at least 2 CPUs and 2Gb of RAM.

Choose your level of Spam Filtration, Medium is the Default and Recommended

Choose whether or not to enable Greylisting which is an anti-spam measurement. We do NOT Recommend using Greylisting as it will block legitimate emails and cause delivery delays.

Click Finish and you are done. SmarterMail is now successfully installed on your server. You may now wish to create Domains and Email Users.
