Migrate SmarterMail between Virtual or Dedicated Servers

Create Domain in SmarterMail interface on New Server: Manage > All Domains > New

Set the Name and Create a Domain Administrator Username and Password, Click Save

Now that you have the domain created on the new server you can copy the content from the old server.

Connect via Remote Desktop to old Server

Open Windows Explorer and Navigate to your SmarterMail Domains Folder; should be C:\SmarterMail\Domains

This folder contains the users and email for all users on the referenced Domain. You will need to copy this folder from your old Server to the new Server and overwrite the existing content in C:\SmarterMail\Domains on the new server.

After you've copied the content from your old server to the new server you simply restart the SmarterMail service to import the new configuration.

To restart the service, Start > Run > services.msc <enter>

Locate SmarterMail Service and Click Restart

The last step is to adjust the IP SmarterMail has configured for this domain in the SmarterMail interface.

Open the SmarterMail Administrator, Select Manage > All Domains > Right Click your domain and Select Edit

Select IP Address from Dropdown and Click Save

Now you should have a full working copy of the mail on your new server; don't forget to update your DNS.
