SmarterMail FAQ
Question:
What is SmarterMail?
Answer:
SmarterMail is a Web-based mail program developed by SmarterTools. The Web-based interface allows you to manage your email users as well as send, receive and store email information. SmarterMail has an easy to use interface that includes Spam filters as well as multi-language support. This software is available for all shared accounts and all Windows Cloud and Windows Dedicated accounts.
Question:
Can I login from any computer to check my email?
Answer:
Yes. As long as your computer has a connection to the Internet you are able to log into the SmarterMail Web interface to access your email accounts. You can also setup popular third-party email clients to access your email such as Outlook, Mail, Thunderbird, and even your iPhone.
Question:
How much space do I get with my email account?
Answer:
Each domain name can store up to 1 GB (Gigabyte) of email messages for shared. For Cloud and Dedicated accounts, you are limited to the hard drive size of the server. Storage space for shared email can be increased by support by contacting us if you are approaching your email limit. As the administrator, you can divide this space up between your users. The SmarterMail Web interface provides reporting features that allow you to monitor the size of each user's mailbox.
Question:
Can I manage my SmarterMail account through the Hosting.com Control Panel?
Answer:
Within the Control Panel as a shared customer, you have the ability to create and manage users as well as log into the SmarterMail Web interface. This functionality is only available to shared accounts via the control panel.
Question:
Can I use a third party program with my SmarterMail account?
Answer:
Our SmarterMail servers are configured to allow POP3 and IMAP connections from third party programs like Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Mail. More information on this topic can be found here.
Question:
Do I have control over spam filtering and content filtering?
Answer:
Yes. All customers using SmarterMail have control over spam filtering and content filtering. For content filtering, please see How do I set up an email fitler for my mail account? If you wish to add premium spam filtering, please see this article.
Question:
Is there help documentation available?
Answer:
Online help documentation is provided for each and every screen within the SmarterMail interface. Simply click Help in the top right corner to view the help documentation pertaining to the screen. You can also search for specific topics in the help section as well. Help is also available on SmarterTools.com's Help System. Also, you may contact Hosting.com's support staff 24x7x365 for any questions you may have.
