Add a new site to SmarterStats
The following article explains how to create a new website in SmarterStats your Windows server. This will allow a user to view stats for a domain over a specified time period.
-
Log into your server through Remote Desktop Connection (instructions for connecting to your server through RDC can be found here).
-
Open SmarterStats, typically located at the following URL: http://your_server_ip_address:9999
-
Log into SmarterStats as the account admin user. If you need to reset the SmarterStats admin username and password, please see How to Reset the Administrator Username and Password in SmarterStats.
-
Once logged in, click the New icon.
-
Fill in the Site ID (you can choose a random number or use the default number assuming it is not already allocated), the Site Name (domain name), Site Administrative Username (the login for stats), and the Site Administrator Password (the site user's password).
-
Next, click Log Options at the top of the page. Set the logs to delete if you would like to (this will free up space on the server).
-
Next click Log Location at the top of the page. Select the button for Import Settings from IIS and choose the site name in IIS that matches the domain you are setting up. Click OK. If you wish to have the logs auto-delete to save space after a certain amount of time, you may select the option here.
-
Click Save. Click Save once again when back on the main screen of SmarterStats. The site is now setup in SmarterStats. The client may connect with http://your_server_ip_address:9999 and the username and password that was setup or you may opt to add a host header in IIS (and add the resulting DNS CNAME record) such as stats.yourdomain.com
