Determining when SQL Server 2008 was Last Restarted

To determine when SQL Server was last restarted query sys.databases to get the create time of tempdb as tempdb is recreated each time SQL Server is restarted.

1. Launch SQL Server Management Studio



2. Click New Query



3. Enter the following query:
SELECT create_date
FROM sys.databases
WHERE database_id = 2 --TEMPDB's database_id
4. Click Execute



5. The last restarted date is displayed under Results
